I have always had a business mind. I
have always thought that I will walk in the footstep of my dad as an accountant
until I met him. I met my counselor who is now a mentor of mine about three years
ago. He totally changed my mind and my career in life. I met my counselor in
train, we had both missed our train and we were both very frustrated. Then He
made comment; “well at least I am still alive". Another person waiting for
the train had just collapsed at the subway station. I stood and watch this very
clearly frustrated but calm man administer CPR and respond to the needs of the
person. Watching him help another human, totally changed my whole perspective
about what I want to do. I talked to him and He explained that he is a doctor. Although
I wasn’t really an excellent student in Science, I knew at that point that I
restoring people back to their health and no matter what I do that is the field
for; in the medical field.
My academic background had always
been in accounting. In high school, I took accounting classes and Business
management. I studied a lot about Economics. I really didn’t have much
background in science. Three years ago I decided to work in the medical field
and that how I find myself majoring in Biology. What I want to do in the
medical field has progressed with time. Since I didn’t have a strong background
in science, I decide to start by being Radiology Technologist. I spent two year
before completing the program. As I started working the hospital, I realized
that in as much as I help diagnose patients, I would like to do more than just
telling the patient is wrong. As such I decided to continue my education in becoming
a Physician Assistant, to be precise orthopedic PA.
As far as my literature background, I
would say I have had a very good maybe not background in literature. I do write
a lot and I do love writing. As youth leader my church, I find myself writing
almost every single day, preparing messages, organizing plans, writing
memorandum almost all time. I have also read a lot which has really help
enhance my writing. I was raised in Ghana and writing was big part of our
studies. This really improve my creativity in writing.
I do know that if I am to be
successful as a Physician Assistant and possible a youth Pastor, I will have to
know how articulate and pen my ideas down. Also how to make reader understand
what is even writing is very important to me. My goal is to complete my 4 years
in college, enroll in physician assistant program and hopefully attend a Bible
school too.
